2025 Prep Transition Dates

The transition into Primary School is one of the most dramatic social transitions made by young children. At Sacred Heart we run a fantastic transition program to lay the foundations for success during their early times at our school.

Please see below our transition processes for our new Prep students who will officially join our school in 2024.

June 2024	Enrolment Acceptance letters sent to 2025 Foundation Parents
August 2024	Kinder Visits Foundation will be visited at Kindergarten (or Child Care) by a member of the Sacred Heart staff.
Monday 16th September 2024	Buddy Allocation Foundation students will be paired with Year Five buddy or buddies. The Year Five buddies will compose letters of introduction to the Foundation students, accompanied by a photo. These letters will be sent to families on this day.
Monday 16th September 2024 Session 1: 9am - 9:30am Session 2: 9:45am - 10:15am Session 3: 11:30am - 12pm Session 4: 12:15pm - 12:45pm	Buddy Playtime Each 2025 Foundation will be allocated ONE of these sessions to attend. (You will be allocated one of these sessions prior to the date). During the session, the Foundation and his/her Buddy will play together in the Library, supported by one of the Foundation Teachers. Parents may like to stay with their child, or have a cup of tea in the Staffroom during this session.
Friday 25th October 2024 - 9am - 11am	Foundation Transition - Morning Block The 2025 Foundation students will arrive at school accompanied by their parents and will be brought to the Foundation Classrooms, where they will be welcomed by their buddy/buddies and school staff. It's essential for children to bring a drink bottle and a small fruit snack. They will engage in activities within a Foundation classroom, noting that these may not necessarily align with their assigned 2025 class groups, as those will be determined at a later stage.
Monday 11th November 2024 - 8:45am - 1:30pm	Foundation Transition - Half Day The 2025 Foundation students will arrive at school accompanied by their parents and will be brought to the Foundation Classrooms, where they will be welcomed by their buddy/buddies and school staff. It's essential for children to bring a drink bottle, a small fruit snack and a packed lunch. They will engage in activities within a Foundation classroom, noting that these may not necessarily align with their assigned 2025 class groups, as those will be determined at a later stage.
Wednesday 20th November 2024 - 5pm - 6pm	Buddy BBQ The families of the 2025 Foundation students and their buddy/buddies are invited to come to school for a sausage sizzle and a play.
Tuesday 3rd December 2024 - 8:30am - 1:30pm	Whole School Transition Day - Half Day & Parent Information Session The 2025 Foundation students will arrive at school accompanied by their parents and will be brought to the Foundation Classrooms, where they will be welcomed by their buddy/buddies and school staff. It's essential for children to bring a drink bottle, a small fruit snack and a packed lunch. They will now be placed in their 2025 class groups and will work with their 2025 teachers. The Parent Information Session will be held at school from 9 am - 10:30 am.
