Our Parish

The Parish of Mildura embraces the communities of Mildura, Irymple and Werrimull.  The Mildura church is Sacred Heart and is located nearby the school at 259 - 261 Eleventh Street Mildura.  St Paul's Primary School is the other Catholic primary school in our Parish and St Joseph's College is our only Catholic secondary school.

As pastoral and liturgical leaders, the Parish Team (Fr Matthew Thomas & Fr Shaiju Mathew) make a significant contribution to the life of Sacred Heart.

As a school, we acknowledge and celebrate our link to the Parish in many aspects of our school community.  These include our school community celebrating whole school or class Masses at the Sacred Heart Church and involvement in the Sacramental Program.

Sacramental Program 2022

Baptised Catholic children in the Sacred Heart Parish have the opportunity to celebrate the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation during their primary school years.  These Parish-based events are supported by the school and connect closely to the school curriculum.  Sacramental preparation in a family setting is the most desirable way for the children to complete their Christian initiation; this is based on the following Church teachings:

• The family lies at the heart of Church life
• Parents are the first teachers of their children in all things, including faith
• For the most part, faith is celebrated in a family context
• Sacraments as a high point of the celebration of faith, are best expressed as a family celebration.

Below is a list of key Sacramental dates for 2022:

• Reconciliation for Year 3 and above: The Sacrament of Reconciliation for these children will take place on Wednesday 6th April at 7pm in the Sacred Heart Church. 
  Confirmation (Year 3): Parent Meeting Wed 27th April 7pm, SH Church. Friday 3rd, Saturday 4th, Sunday 5th June
  First Eucharist (Grade 4): Parent Meeting Wed 7th Sept. 7pm, SH Church Friday 21st, Saturday 22nd Sunday 23rd October
  Reconciliation (Grade 2): Parent Meeting Wed 12th Oct. 7pm, SH Church Wednesday 23rd November
